Michaels, Anthony J., MD
Anthony J. Michaels is a board-certified gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist patient care award winning physician. Raised in Ohio, he completed his undergraduate work at Kalamazoo College and then returned home to Ohio for medical school. Dr. Michaels completed medical school and internal medicine training at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He then attended the University of Florida College of Medicine for Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology fellowship training. He was a member of The Ohio State faculty from 2010-2021 and served as an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine and Medical Director of Liver Transplantation. His primary clinical focus is liver disorders, decompensated liver disease, portal hypertension, liver transplantation, viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, autoimmune and genetic liver disease as well as liver tumors. Dr. Michaels was the recipient of several awards including Top Doctor by OH Top Docs in 2020 and 2021. In 2004, he received the American Liver Foundation and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases Resident Scholar Travel Award.
Dr. Michaels is married and resides in Dublin. In his spare time, he enjoys being outdoors, water activities, attending his kids sporting events, as well as reading and relaxing with his family.
